GRANT WRITING CAPACTY

OVERVIEW

Develop grant-writing capacity and competencies to increase resource development funds from federal, state and private agencies with in the cooperative by:

  • Strengthening grant-writing skills among faculty
  • Providing incentives to faculty to obtain grants
  • Strengthening Resource Development capability adequately to obtain cooperative grants and train and support faculty preparing additional grants
  • Strengthening Resource Development capability adequately to support and monitor the administration of grants
  • Disseminating new practices

 

OBJECTIVES

  1. Core groups of at least 60-trained faculty with in the Cooperative, to submit at least one grant application to federal, state or private agency.

    • Two grant seminars attended by at least 10 of faculty at each college.
    • At least one grant application by 25% of faculty who completed grant writing seminars
    • 15 faculty members trained, 30 submitted at least one grant application, and 10 two applications at each college.

  2. Increase on the number of proposals submitted to state federal and private agencies with in the cooperative.

    • Develop mini proposals or concept papers annuall
    • Develop a percentage of the mini proposals into full proposals annually.
    • A definitive increase on the number of proposals submitted by all four colleges.

  3. Increase on funds requested per proposal (from 2000)

    • Develop total grant targets.
    • Write and distribute policies for grant submission, including minimum amount.
    • 20 prospective funding agencies awarding $500,000 or more identified by each College.

  4. Increase on the submitted number of proposals that address the needs of Latino and low-income students.

    • Generate project ideas after a survey of its Latino students and community by each college.
    • Develop grant-writing teams to respond to grant deadlines in a timely manner.

  5. Increase on the overall revenue of grant income at each college.

    • Write and distribute grant targets which reflect an increase over the previous 5 year of average grant income.
    • Be able to substantially increase on overall grant income
